On Wednesday Dec 30th at Kampala Serena Hotel’s Victoria Ballroom, the Ugandan Diaspora Network will host its 5th annual Uganda Diaspora Gala in a glamorous event that will attract Diaspora from across the globe.
Starting at 6pm with a red carpet and a networking cocktail sponsored by Nile Breweries in the foyer of the Victoria ballroom, guests will then be ushered into the main hall for entertainment that will include music, fashion, comedy, and the Diaspora Awards.
This year’s keynote speech will be delivered by Mr. James Aguma – Chief Financial Officer – South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) who will be specially recognized along other notable guest appearances that will include Mr. Victor Ochen – the former Nobel Peace Prize Nominee for 2015, Mr. Stephen Tio Kauma – The Director Human Resource at the Import & Export (EXIM) Bank of Africa based in Cairo, Egypt, Dr. Josephine Ssenkungo – Director of Education and Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) in the State of New Mexico, USA and Andy Kristian Agabe whose innovation and incubator with Bantu Coffee has won him acclaim and recognition at Harvard University.
A special entertainment package has been put together that will include Uganda’s legendary band of more than 40 years — The Afrigo band led by Band leader Moses Matovu will treat the Diaspora to their melodious jazzy tunes. Other attendees will include Uganda’s leading rapper Navio’s who will sample his new classic songs, Sandra Suubi the airtel – trace winner will also be featured and The Xtreme Cultural Troup will perform their South African Cultural dances!
To help overcome that stress Teacher Mpamiire – AKA. Ssevo will welcome his class of 2015 to the gala with a special comedy session that will include the political satire and an array of jokes that will summarize the year 2015!
The guest of honor will be H.E. the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda, other attendees will include the Speaker of Parliament and other notable Ugandans living and working abroad.
By far the Ugandan Diaspora Networking Gala is the biggest Diaspora Homecoming Event of the year that annually attracts more than 400 Ugandans living and working abroad including companies that target and market for the Diaspora.
This year we shall also witness new partners like MTN Mobile Money Global Transfers, Uganda Investment Authority, Roofings Uganda, The Uganda American Chamber of Commerce, Synergy Partners Uganda, Uganda Revenue Authority, Bank of Uganda, Diamond Trust Bank, Post Bank, The Parliament of Uganda – Diaspora Desk, Western Union, Nile Breweries, Pepsi Uganda, Jomayi Property Consultants, Graestone Properties, The Clinic at the Mall and UAP.

The Uganda Diaspora Network is a forum aimed at bringing together Ugandans who live and work abroad by celebrating their contributions overseas and also encouraging them to give of their time, talents, ideas and expertise whilst inspiring the next generation of Ugandan leaders. Every year the Ugandan Diaspora Network will organize an annual Social Networking Gala and will also produce a quarterly publication highlighting the successes of the various Ugandans residing overseas.
