Batabazi is a music group from Uganda, currently based in Boston, MA, USA. Batabazi was started in 2007 by Jerome Black and PG later on Gera, Tasha and Tha Mayor came on board.They used to freestyle mostly, a group of guys trying to express themselves lyrically in English and Ugandan vernaculars especially Luganda. In 2009, Batabazi decided to take their music to another level and signed with BaSe Entertainment, who currently manages and promotes them.
The group’s musical roots are hip hop but are versatile musically with tracks in R&B, Reggae & Genge. Batabazi has two mixtapes in tow (Batabazi & AfroMovement Mixtape) and an EP (Set It Off EP). The debut album “The Beginning” will be released in 2012. The Batabazi Crew will be guest performers at this year’s Uganda Diaspora Social Networking Gala.

The Uganda Diaspora Network is a forum aimed at bringing together Ugandans who live and work abroad by celebrating their contributions overseas and also encouraging them to give of their time, talents, ideas and expertise whilst inspiring the next generation of Ugandan leaders. Every year the Ugandan Diaspora Network will organize an annual Social Networking Gala and will also produce a quarterly publication highlighting the successes of the various Ugandans residing overseas.
