“Agro-tourism involves any agriculturally based operation or activity that brings visitors to a farm or home as in a day’s stay or full board for days or weeks.
Uganda is an agricultural country with 80% of our population directly depending on the agricultural sector for their living. It employs more than 70% of the total labour force of Uganda.
These are mostly small scale enterprises organically operating all over Uganda . Many of these somehow get support from the diaspora or supplement what the Ugandans in the diaspora send to support their loved ones.
Many tourists want a change and to experience the country side, see new and different things, taste different foods, participate in various activities all of which Uganda has to offered by Uganda’s pleasant weather conditions.
Finally Agro-tourism is a type of industry which can be done anywhere in Uganda, be participatory, inclusive, needs very little additional investment and is therefore ready to be harvested .”
