The Ugandan Diaspora Network will host its second Diaspora Business Breakfast on Tuesday 29th December at Kampala Serena Hotel, Katonga Hall as a prelude to the annual Diaspora gala that held on 30th December 2015. The theme this year will be Investing for Early Retirement.

Last year’s Diaspora Business Breakfast attracted the US Embassy, USAID representatives and was also supported by government agencies led by Uganda Investment Authority, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bank of Uganda, Uganda Tourism Board along with NTV Uganda, Roofings Uganda, Real Estate Developers like Prestige Pine Villages, and Money Transfer Agencies.

This year’s event has already attracted new partners and sponsors — NSSF Uganda, Pepsi Uganda, SMSOne, ETIHAD Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Fly Dubai, Kampala Serena Hotel and Real Estate Developers are among the companies that will be represented at this year’s breakfast meet. The Diaspora community is encouraged to attend this year’s event as there will be opportunity to interface with industry leaders in Diaspora Tourism, Diaspora Bonds, Diaspora Insurance, Diaspora Banking, Diaspora Tax policy, Real Estate Development, Planning for Early Retirement and more sectors of interest to Diaspora community.

On Wednesday 30th December we shall then host our 5th annual Ugandan Diaspora Gala. This year we are happy to report that our keynote address will be delivered by Mr. James Aguma, Chief Financial Officer, South African Broadcasting Corporation, the largest broadcast network on the continent of Africa with an annual revenue of more than US $500 million dollars. He will be joined by Mr. Stephen Kauma, a Director at the Import Export Bank of Africa in Cairo and Mr. Victor Ochen, the youngest nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize from Africa among others. This being an election season we have extend invitations to the various Presidential candidates to share their Diaspora policy.

Other highlights will include our annual Diaspora Awards — a program that recognizes distinguished Ugandan success stories abroad, the second Diaspora Innovate Award handed out to the most innovative Ugandan idea. Other aspects of the gala will include fashion, comedy and special musical guests appearances.
