NAVIO to Perform live at the 2nd Ugandan Diaspora Social Networking Event, Dec 30th, Serena Hotel, Kampala

Navio aka Daniel Kigozi is East Africa’s biggest hip-hop artist and a multi award-winning artist both locally and internationally. A 5-time Pearl of Africa (PAM) Award winner, in 2011 he was also Africa’s most nominated artist at the Channel O awards nominated for Best Male Artist, Best Hip Hop Artist and Best Video of the year for “Keep Moving”. In 2012, he was again nominated at the Channel O awards for Best East African artist for the hit single “One and Only”. His current hit single “Kata” has just been released to critical acclaim on MTV, Channel O and Trace.

A consummate and skilled performer, Navio continues to travel around the world showcasing his unique brand of Ugandan and African hip hop.

 

About Navio: Beginnings: 

He began in the rap group Klear Kut which was nominated for two Kora Awards in 2002, and won a Pearl of Africa (PAM) award, Uganda’s leading award show, in 2004 for best Hip-Hop Group.

As a solo act he was the first artist to be nominated twice in the same category at the Kora awards in 2008, won Best Hip-Hop Artist at the PAM awards 2008 and 2010, Best Video at the PAM awards. In 2007 and 2010, nominated in Kenya for the Kisima Awards 2008 as Best Male Artist, Best Video and Best Hip Hop Artist.

In April 2012, he picked up the award for Best East African Artist at the African Entertainment Awards in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Navio and ONE8

Navio is Uganda’s ambassador to ONE8, the African supergroup featuringfellow artists Fally Ipupa from DRC, 2 Face from Nigeria, Alikiba from Tanzania, 4×4 from Ghana, Movizhalene from Gabon, Amani from Kenya, JK from Zambia and international megastar, R Kelly.

The group’s first single “Hands Across the World” was a No 1 single inseveral countries internationally as well as generating over a million hits onYou Tube.

Navio’s individual song off the ONE8 album “Feel Free” was a countrywide smash in Uganda peaking at No 1 on the popular Sanyu radiochart.

Navio’s sound and style is unique and strikes a balance between anAfrican sound and a contemporary international flavour.

As a solo artist, Navio’s debut album was “Half the Legend” in 2009 with the hits “Bugumu”, “Salooni” featuring GNL, “Ngalo”, “Badman from Kamwokya” featuring Bobi Wine and “Respect” featuring Jua Kali.

His sophomore album, “African Hustler Music” was released in August 2011. Hits off the upcoming album include “Raw”, “Nawuliranga (Listen)”, “Keep Moving”, “Wind it up”, “African Hustler Music” and “Dream”.

His third studio album, “Girls and Whips in Africa” will be out in2013. The lead single “One and Only” and 2nd single “Kata” havebeen released to critical and commercial success
