Ugandan singer/songwriter Omega Bugembe Okello’s talent has significantly raised Uganda’s profile abroad. The songstress has been described as “having a voice that pleasantly, but hauntingly seeps into one’s soul,” “bursting into song at birth,” and having “a beautiful voice.” Anyone who has listened to her music will undoubtedly agree. The combination of her unique song writing and a collaborative approach to producing music quickly got Uganda recognized on the world stage when her world album “Kiwomera Emmeeme” was nominated by the NAACP, (a high honor for a new and independent artist) as best world album.
Mrs. Okello has ensured that her name and brand are synonymous with the highest quality musicianship. More importantly, she believes strongly that all things Ugandan should reflect the highest quality to the world at large.
As such, she has worked tirelessly to break down the stereotypes on Uganda and Africa at large that do not subscribe to these standards for quality.
It is this commitment to excellence that not only gotten her album “Kiwomera Emmeeme” recognition, but has enabled her to perform for numerous fans and with various bands around the world and which keeps her music playing on radio stations around the world such as the BBC.
Omega has quietly recorded two other albums “Omega Jazz- Take One” and “Amazed,” that are receiving critical acclaim. Rumor has it that another one is on the way.
