Santa ANZO ~ Featured Fashion Designer at the 2016 Diaspora Gala

Santa ANZO is the chief Fashion Designer & Managing Director of Arapapa, Uganda’s premium Fashion brand. She is the founder and President of Uganda International Fashion Week.

ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo is established as an international African fashion brand.  Santa will be a featured designer at this year’s 2016 Diaspora gala taking place at the Kampala, Serena Hotel, Dec 30th.

Among her various accolades Santa has won the 1st Prize PRESIDENTIAL TRANSFORMERS APPRECIATION AWARD and was recognized by H.E. Y.K. Museveni, the President of the Republic of Uganda for promoting and developing Uganda’s fashion and textile industry.

Recently ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo showacased official at SOURCING at Coterie event in .New York.
She had qualified for an important contract as a locally owned Ugandan firm, owned by a NATIVE Ugandan, to pitch to chain buyers in New York.

ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo was selected, by Franca Sozzani, Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia Magazine to showcase at the launch of the UN Fashion for Development initiative in Uganda. The event was covered in the Vogue Italia (L’Oumo) May 2012 issue.

Santa was awarded the PIONEER GROUND BREAKING AWARD by Uganda Women Entrepreneur’s Association, ICON & the International Labour Organization.
“Santa is prized as a woman entrepreneur who has distinguished herself through outstanding business performance and achievement at all levels “She has walked a path never walked before in Uganda, carving out a career for herself that has inspired thousands of youth who today are reaping big from her sacrifice especially through Arapapa & the Uganda International Fashion Week”.

Santa is the recipient of the Lifetime Fashion Icon Achievement Award 2015, the highest honour so far given in the fashion sector in Uganda.

In November 2015, Santa was appointed by the Uganda Tourism Board, as an official Tourism Ambassodor for Uganda, in this role She has founded & initiated Fashion Tourism as a brand new, exciting and vibrant aspect of tourism in Uganda.

Santa is the country representative 2015-2016 for African Fashion Reception-Paris.

She has been appointed as Uganda’s permanent member to the Common Wealth fashion Concil in London, where she seats as a founding board member.

In June, 2015 She was named a partner of South African Tourism by the Director Regional for Africa of South African Tourism.

ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo represented Uganda at an (all) Africa fashion collective in Johannesburg South Africa on invitation by the Department of Arts & Culture in conjunction with African Fashion International.
The President of the United Nations Security Councill 2014, recognized Santa Anzo as one of 87 women that have scaled heights in Uganda, she is applauded for an invaluable role in pioneering African fashion & Modelling careers in Uganda.

On March 8th 2013, GOOGLE invited Santa to be one of two, to represent Uganda at an online panel discussion to commemorate the International Women’s day. Google was celebrating women who inspire. some of whom are named amongst 100 Most Influential Africans.

As a motivational speaker Santa has spoken to over 1000 Existing & Aspiring entrepreneurs at the Global Entrepreneurship Conference organized by Enterprise, Uganda. The theme of this conference was “ENTREPRENEURSHIP AS A VEHICLE FOR JOB CREATION”. Santa’s task was to share her experience in “BUILDING A RESPECTED NATIONAL BRAND IN UNCHARTED WATERS”.

Santa’s efforts in transforming Uganda’s Fashion industry are remarkable; she has travelled the world showcasing Ugandan creativity, painting a much needed positive image for the country beyond HIV and Idd Amin.

As a result Santa’s work has been featured on world renowned media channels such as CNN, BBC, French TV, USA-Online TV, South Africa Broadcasting Corporation and DSTV channel Studio 53 among others, as a role model in Contemporary African themed Fashion Design and promoting the production and purchase of garments “Made in Africa”.

Santa ANZO believes our communities can develop through promoting creativity & self-sustaining initiatives to create employment and household income.

ARAPAPA by Santa Anzo has also been featured at UNESCO and the African Union Commission events.
