Fashion Designer and Stylist, Solome Katongole representing the USA – will be returning for the 3rd annual Ugandan Diaspora Gala on 30th December 2013. She graced us with her beautiful designs and art in 2011 and this year (2013) she opened an outlet for her collection in Kampala. Solome Katongole’s Bio | Fashion Influence and Background
I was born in Uganda and raised in Columbia, MD. I have always been aware of fashion from a young age and as I grew older my passion for fashion design grew as well.
I have a bachelors of science in Biology. I first showcased my designs as an undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts Boston.
I honed my skills by designing for and participating in local fashion shows. In 2008 I moved to LA to pursue my dream of becoming a professional designer.
I attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, I graduated with a Major in Fashion Design.
I am inspired by color and nature. I design clothes that make a woman feel great, sophisticated, and sexy.
I create garments that are comfortable and make a statement. I love dance, traveling to warm areas wearing bright bright and soft colors, so I translate color and dance and a sense of feel into my fashion giving my customers the freedom to define their own style. My future plans are to have my own line and boutique.

The Solome Katongole label specializes in customized women’s clothing. The line is all about chic comfort and color. Solome states ” I translate color and dance and a sense of feel into my fashion giving my customers the freedom to define their own style likes the fact that women today are reclaiming their traditional attire and are willing to merge western with the traditional”.

The Uganda Diaspora Network is a forum aimed at bringing together Ugandans who live and work abroad by celebrating their contributions overseas and also encouraging them to give of their time, talents, ideas and expertise whilst inspiring the next generation of Ugandan leaders. Every year the Ugandan Diaspora Network will organize an annual Social Networking Gala and will also produce a quarterly publication highlighting the successes of the various Ugandans residing overseas. Please send us those inspirational stories and philanthropic work involving Ugandans abroad. We shall share these stories using this platform that is rapidly growing and expanding. The Next Diaspora Social Networking Gala will be Held on 30th December 2016 at The Kampala Serena Hotel.
