Ugandan Footballer, Kiwanuka Mathias of the New York Giants

Mathias Kagimu Kiwanuka (born March 8, 1983 in Indianapolis, Indiana) currently is a player in the NFL, and a Boston College alum. He plays  for the New York Giants who selected him 32nd overall in the first round of the 2006 NFL draft following a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He played his high school football at Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana and also went to Middle School/ Grade School and St. Simon in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kiwanuka, who was widely regarded as one of the best pass rushing defensive ends in college, led the Big East Conference in sacks during the 2003 and 2004 seasons with 11.5 each season.

In 2005 he was named ACC Preseason Player of the Year, and was also named to multiple preseason All-America teams. He is the grandson of Benedicto Kiwanuka, the first Prime Minister of Uganda. Mathias is the youngest of Deodata and Emmanuel Kiwanuka’s three children; has one brother and one sister.
